⚙️ Product Description
A rail shoulder is a pre-inserted item in concrete sleepers (single stem or twin stem types) used to fix elastic rail clips, primarily e-clips, within the fastening system. We specialize in producing two types of rail shoulders: cast-in shoulders and weld-on shoulders.
Casting Rail Shoulders
Cast-in shoulders are manufactured from iron casting. These components are pre-embedded in concrete sleepers and work alongside elastic clips to secure the rail. Material options include:
- M.C.I. shoulder (Malleable Iron)
- S.G.C.I. shoulder (Spheroid Graphite Iron)
- Other materials: QT600-3, QT700-2, ZG25, ZG35, ZG45.
Compliance Standards: GB/T 1348-1988, NF EN 1563(1997), ISO1038, DIN 1693, JIS G5502 (2001), KS D 4302, GOST 7293(1985), or BS EN 1563(1997).
Weld-on Shoulder
Weld-on shoulders are produced through hot forging. These are used in locations where standard sleepers are impractical, requiring the shoulders to be welded onto flat steel base plates. This facilitates the fabrication of rail retaining units on both steel ties and base plates, typically following AREMA standards. They are compatible with Pandrol style clips ranging from 30lbs to 113lbs.
Special Rail Shoulder
Produced by hot forging, these are used with rail clip bolts and specialized rail clips to secure the rail, typically utilizing low or mid-carbon steel materials.

Railway Wheel Sets
The wheel set is a critical component of the Railway Bogie. A standard set consists of two wheels, one axle, and two bearings. Depending on application, it may include gears, brake discs, or axle boxes. Wheels are available in cast or forged variants based on specific vehicle performance requirements.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
What are the primary types of rail shoulders available?
We offer three main types: Cast-in shoulders (pre-embedded in concrete), Weld-on shoulders (welded to base plates), and Special rail shoulders (for specific bolt/clip configurations).
What materials are used for casting rail shoulders?
Common materials include Malleable Cast Iron (M.C.I.) and Spheroid Graphite Cast Iron (S.G.C.I.), as well as specific grades like QT500, QT600-3, and ZG25/35/45.
Which international standards do your products comply with?
Our products meet several global standards including BS EN 1563, UIC 813, AREMA, GB/T 1348, ISO1038, and DIN 1693 among others.
What is the annual production capacity for rail shoulders?
Our manufacturing facility has a production capacity of approximately 500,000 pieces per year.
When should a weld-on shoulder be used instead of a cast-in shoulder?
Weld-on shoulders are used in locations where standard concrete sleepers cannot be easily utilized, allowing the shoulder to be welded directly onto flat steel base plates.
What components make up a standard railway wheel set?
A standard wheel set includes two wheels (cast or forged), one axle, and two bearings, with optional components like gears and brake discs depending on the application.
